MEET THOMAS MARSH

I have always been a tinkerer and a builder, curious and excited about how things are put together and how they function.  I have worked professionally in computer science for over 25 years, and have not lost that excitement and passion.

Early on, I worked in embedded systems, and then specialized in video technologies including compression and decompression algorithms.  This led me to Immersive Media, where my team pioneered 360 camera technology, eventually developing the prototype which would become Google Street View.

From this, I moved on on to Thetus Corporation, developing technologies for analyzing deep semantics in structured and unstructured data.  This reinvigorated my love of Linguistics, and I returned to school and obtained a Masters degree in Computational Linguistics from the University of Washington.

After that, I was Co-Founder and CTO of Apollo.  Where we built a very strong, domain focused Natural Language Understanding engine, and an intelligent assistant which uses this engine to provide voice capabilities and cloud-connected NLU to any car.

As a linguist, I am passionate and excited about exploring, applying, and advancing the state of the art in linguistic knowledge, with the ultimate goal of true understanding between artificially and naturally intelligent systems.

As an engineer, I am excited to create new things, both as a hands-on creator and as a leader.

With Marshbot, I am thrilled to guide my company by balancing practical hard work with forward-looking and domain-informed technical vision while supporting technology that makes the world a better and more beautiful place.
